Registered Nurse (Med/Surg) – Acute Care

Location: Waco, TX 76712

Job Type: Permanent

Schedule: 7 PM - 7 AM

Pay Rate: $32 – $53/hour (Based on experience & shift differentials)

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse (RN) in Acute Care, you will coordinate and deliver patient-centered nursing care using our professional practice model. Your responsibilities will include conducting patient assessments, identifying health issues, creating and evaluating individualized care plans, and ensuring patient safety throughout the care process. You will practice in accordance with the Texas Nursing Practice Act, delegating tasks appropriately and ensuring high-quality care delivery.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough clinical assessments to identify patient and family needs.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans based on patient conditions and evolving outcomes.
  • Foster therapeutic relationships with patients and families while maintaining professionalism and empathy.
  • Educate patients, families, peers, and community members to empower informed healthcare decisions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and execute comprehensive care plans.
  • Delegate tasks responsibly, monitor outcomes, and adapt care plans as needed.
  • Apply critical thinking and evidence-based practices to problem-solving in patient care.
  • Support peer development and demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and community service.

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Field of Study: Nursing
  • Licensure: Current and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required within 30 days of hire

  • In-depth knowledge of nursing standards, patient care procedures, and hospital policies
  • Understanding of applicable laws, regulations, and ethical principles
  • Familiarity with disease prevention, common medications, and side effects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High emotional intelligence and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficiency in problem-solving and critical thinking
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, EMR systems, scheduling, and documentation)
