Memorial Hospital in Temple, TX, part of Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a full time Registered Nurse to join our amazing Medical Surgical Palliative/Hospice Unit (STC-4)! Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital is a 636-bed specialty care teaching hospital and the only Level 1 Trauma Center between Dallas and Austin.
Schedule: Full Time - Nights - 36 hours per week
Unit Summary
STC-4 is a 29-bed telemetry inpatient unit located in our Special Treatment Center, with a specialty in Hospice/Palliative. Working on STC-4 gives you the unique opportunity to work with both Hospice/Palliative and Acute Care patients. As an STC-4 nurse you will have a unique opportunity to develop strong nursing skills with high acuity patients. In addition to our internal medicine team, you will have an opportunity to work with our hospice and palliative teams, collaborating to provide our patients with excellent and compassionate care utilizing a multidisciplinary approach.
Working on STC-4 offers you not only the chance to develop and use your clinical skills, but also the chance to provide comfort to patients and families transitioning to the end-of-life. Our nurses take pride in caring for the patients and families holistically.
On STC-4, you can expect your clinical skills to become greater than ever imagined due to the high acuity of patients and varieties of scope which include:
Sepsis Patients
Diabetes care
Transfers from Medical Surgical units and ICU Patients
Admissions from ED
High level Pain control - PCA
Patients with impaired respiratory status
Patients needing care for nutritional support
Infection Control
GI abnormalities
Wound care
Trach Care
Nurses are empowered to obtain their Certified Hospice/Palliative Nurse (CHPN) within a year of their service and their MEDSURG Board Certification within 2 years.
Qualifications
Grad of an Accredited Program
Specialized field of study should be nursing.
A current and valid nursing license.
Must have BLS certification or get it within 30 days of starting in this role.
